on the Vanden Plas, it went for £5800 hammer price which by time add ons it reaches £7200 or there abouts.
Close to R.R. Silver Spirit money, I reckon its worth the stretch to buy one (business use)

Tempted to go to a reputable established dealer and pay over the odds for a good'un with good warrenty, last thing I need is a duffer thats going to cost an arm 'n two legs. Budget to £12,500 tops all in.

Balmoral Green has suggested dark colours only, good cos I prefer them, but any buying advise please.

How mechanically apt are you? If you are not apt or don't have much time it might just be worth going to a dealer - you can always knock them down or barter.

Have bought from dealer, auction and privately for classics. The dealer was fantastic, they promised to get the car running (it was off the road) which they did when it was delivered. Very good and kept to word. Presumably you might also have some comeback to dealers these days, if there is a problem. Reputable dealers are likely to try and be helpful.
Proviate cars and auctions are much of a muchness. You pays your money and takes the risk. If you know what you are looking at - it can be fine

Sorry to be so dim, exactly what is it you are after?

Hi Coco H, I think what you say makes good sense. I have a vintage Austin 12/4 but would like to add a 2nd car ready for wedding hire business I intend starting. At first I thought another vintage open tourer and then thought might be better off (business wise) to go for a luxury saloon/limo. Budget 12,500 max. Rolls Royce Silver Spirit seem tremendous value at the moment and great for wedding car use. But I realize if I buy a car that turns out to be a duffer I'm in trouble with huge repair bills. I know the basics on car mechanics but thats it, not enough to repair a R.R.

My Brother treckons on Silver Shadows, but to me they are a little passe for wedding work. I could be wrong tho.
