Hello all. Unfortunately I hardly get to drive my classic cars these days.. I was thinking of getting an accusump to pre oil the engines but do not like the idea of mounting it in the engine bay (no space in stock road car) or inside car (also no way on stock road car). So was thinking to fit some dry break connectors in the oil gallery some where near oil pressure switches I suppose. Then I could connect an accusump for pre oiling, then start the engine. After a few mins of running, stop engine and remove accusump via the dry breaks. Engine also gets a few quarts of fresh oil this way which is a bonus. Obviously need quality dry breaks but I don't see why this wouldnt work.. Also it could then be used in the same way on other cars I have but don't get to use much.. Any comments (other than just drive your car more...;) appreciated.

Would it not be easier, cheaper and less leak prone to remove the coil lead and then crank the engine over until you have oil pressure?

I've also thought of Accusump - I have slant-four Vauxhalls where the oil pump is at the top of the block and it can take ages to get oil pressure - but I don't like having to site that massive tank somewhere, though perhaps at the top of the passenger footwell might work. Cranking the engine over might do the job but I'd have to also remove spark plugs to get it to crank anywhere near fast enough to build up oil pressure, and with these engines it isn't only when they've stood for weeks, it takes a while all the time. I wondered about some sort of electric pump to just circulate the oil prior to start, connected on the filter housing like an oil cooler sandwich plate would be, but I haven't had enough trouble to justify looking further into it.
