The nights are drawing in, it's getting a little chillier and the gritters will soon be out coating the road with tons of rust maker. My P5B is going to go into it's winter storage where sadly there is no power and lease conditions mean that I can't do any major repairs or change fluids.
I plan to change the panel lights to warm LEDs as the original bulbs are pretty dim. Front fog lights are a straight swap, so they are up to be changed. Other than that it's just going to be a good coating of wax before it goes away and then maybe a few runs if the weather permits.
Anyone else with jobs to do?

I’m going to drop the fuel tank on my 205GTI to investigate the breather system.
I’ve been meaning to do this every winter for the last 10 years….lets see if I make it.
I have £10 that says that your 'er indoors will find other tasks that are 'far more important than your old banger'!I’ve been meaning to do this every winter for the last 10 years….lets see if I make it.
Where do I begin...?
1) Fit new switches for cooling fan and rear fog light (remembering to buy rear fog light and find where I put the switches first).
2) Fit replacement nearside door window winding mechanism - a real swine of a job as there's no access for human hands.
3) Oil leak - decide which one to tackle first.
4) Dampers - check for leaks, top up with thicker oil and hope for the best.
5) Brakes - fit servo.
6) Refit front anti-roll bar that was removed by a very bumpy road.
7) Check state of sump guard.
8) Fix lack of nearside headlamp main beam.
9) Persuade offside sidelight LED to shine brightly.
10) Fit higher wattage lamps into Mr Lucas's front spot lights or replace with Oscar / Hella / Cibie or similar.
11) Sort out spares / tool storage in boot to stop rattles.
12) Check underside (of car) for rust and fix / conceal / ignore.
13) Clutch - makes a noise like a spanners in a cement mixer so investigate and pay bill to have fixed.
14) Pursue council for £1,100 claim for damage after hitting an eight inch deep pothole.
And suddenly it's April 2025 and I realise there are a number of jobs I haven't started yet.

Recovering from a hospital op currently so not doing much on the 240 but I do need to get underneath and do the floors with some kind of rust preventative. Got some wheels newly powder coated, well, five years ago, that need some black paint on some bits as they’re all silver currently. Got a little chrome luggage strap bar to bolt onto the rear shelf. Finish off the conversion to a wire-activated throttle. Maybe fit new discs at the front. Errr, that’s about it … that’ll take me all winter probably. Luckily the garage is dry and carpeted so you can work in there except when it’s 0 degrees …
Remove leather trimmed sunroof surround a retrim in cloth. Trim sunroof interior. Rubber foam to bulkhead.
Drive on any nice day - before the E5 hydro-whatevers and turns into green goo.
(This happened last time the car was left standing for ~2yrs, green insoluble stuff through the fuel system. However, the float chamber was bone dry last weekend and no residue- so here's hoping!)

The list is long and the wallet is shallow, but I have a few easy things I need to knockoff in my track MX-5.- Change the oil, I've not changed it since the start of the year and it's done tons of track miles since then
- Brakes need bled all round, I replaced the front to rear hardline last month and it the pedal feels meh
- Coolant flush, it's never been done...
- Replace K&N hot air intake with a real cold air intake or refit factory airbox
- Interior needs sand down and painted, the floor looks like crap and I want to pin in a small rain catcher to wipe feet
- Coilvers were fit last month, done 2 track days since and there is a new clunk at the rear when the car accelerates under cornering force, prob all needs torqued back down
- Fit the bucket seats that are sitting in my garage, need to modify stock rails to fit them (bottom mount Corbeau's)
EDIT: Not sure if my car falls under classic btw, it's 25 years old? Does that count?
I've always got a load of jobs to do "over winter", maybe this is the winter they'll get done. The abundance of Sunday morning gatherings means I'm a bit less happy to start something that might take a few weeks. I need to sort the headlining out, which has been required since the car went back on the road in 1998, and as of this afternoon it turns out that the wiring to the front sidelights isn't as good as I thought it was. And I keep finding some bits of rust underneath that I'd like to attend to, but preferably without stripping everything out. The other car needs the overdrive box fitting before another motorway journey, ideally. Oh, and there's the one I'm restoring to get on with.

Should take me upto Christmas with it all but it will stay in the garage until spring.
Gearbox will be coming out of the W123. I've got noises that I hope are from clutch and a new clutch and bearings ready to fit.
Worse case scenario is if input shaft bearing needs changing, which is not straightforward on this 5 speed Getrag. I have a spare box in case I mess it up.
I quite enjoy being under the car in all weathers as long as I'm wrapped up and waterproof...especially since I finished the clean up underneath.

Not specifically a winter list as the Cadillac is used all year round.
Halfway through changing the timing chain which will be finished by Wednesday, then the drivers door is coming off so I can repair the A-pillar, then off to get the brake discs skimmed.
No doubt something else will then require TLC and so it goes on…….
