I didn't realise it was a pre production prototype. Cosworths go for a lot of money now, this one could be big numbers.

Guide price 65 - 75 but could go for more - very famous in Ford circles

https://www.iconicauctioneers.com/1992-ford-escort...

Iconic also have this one up - ex Ford management car, owned by Ford for 30 years. 1 of 1 factory built Zinc Yellow RHD cars, guide 100 -140

Iconic have got some nice cars in that listing.

512 TR for me please!

Or maybe the 924 Carrera Gt....or the Ur Quattro....or the Lotus Carlton...

He was living in Delvino Rd, SW6 at the time he had this car. I used to see it parked up there quite often.

These are worth a lot….fact. However, how much do you think the Clarkson link adds to the price? It was obviously a Ford prototype/ demonstrator from the reg but for how long did Clarkson own it for? Yes, it will have been sighted at Parsons Green and the White Horse. I simply wonder how much the Clarkson connection adds to the value, I assume more than that of a celebrity who is not a ‘ car person’. For example, Hugh Grant in an interview said he had no idea why he had bought a Ferrari, as he was scared witless at anything above 40mph. And, as far as some show biz ‘ personalities’ are concerned, I think it could even reduce the value.

He didn't own it anyway.

It was a press loan car to him from FoMoCo, to which it was returned to Ford afterwards.

I remember reading one of his books and he was gutted when Ford wanted it back!

Until he got a Fiat Coupe 20V Turbo that he raved about.

I wouldn't pay more for a car because it had some sort of celebrity history, but the prototype/demonstrator history may bump the value up a bit and I love that colour!

Yellow one looks so much better? smile

Reminds me of a GTI though, without all the stick on bits. Ford made some truly awful cars back then, in lower spec.

Didn't someone saw off the spoiler one night when it was parked outside his house?

Err......no.

Cosworth director that chose that must have been on some strong meds when he put that order in.

I wonder what happened to the old Acropolis car?

Never understood why anyone would pay more for a "celebrity" connection

If they were a driving hero like Senna it would make more sense to me although I still wouldn't pay more

I'm not sure how this one couldn't be worth more-Clarkson's writings about the car fuelled it's reputation.

Famous owners are always a funny one-I was offered a certain TV chef's Ferrari some years back and I couldn't have given flying one about the past owner-I didn't want it as it was rosso-crema.

But then who wouldn't want Senna's NSX, Jim Clark's Lotus Elan or even Lewis Hamilton's Zonda (even if the bathroom bloke ttted it into a tunnel)?

Admittedly, a certain roller with the reg JS 1 wouldn't be high up the list.

Always remember this bit from his Car Years with the extended ‘Loose Fit’ backing
