Lovely story and an excellent read. Reminds me of working on cars with my dad from when I was 4 years old. We transplanted a tuned MG 1500cc into our A40 Cambridge one weekend. Without my 'help' it would probably have been done in a day. smile

Thanks for sharing OP, brilliant read and heartening to read someone so young getting involved to such an extent cool I was just about getting acquainted with angle grinders, cutting discs and undoing bad filler work at that age, so fair play for getting hands-on with lathes etc.!

Lovely to see, her father (& grand father) are very well known in Austin 7 circles.

Looking forward to seeing the outcome, same body maker and her father made a rather nice "Highland Coupe" which is worth having a look at.

I have known the three generations of the Dunford family for more than 50 years. They eat , sleep and breath Austin Sevens!

austin and his father are also long-standing stalwarts on the A7 scene.

There is a detailed thread on the building of the Highland Coupe mentioned, here:

https://www.austinsevenfriends.co.uk/forum/showthr...

Also had a write-up in The Automobile magazine, around Feb 2023 IIRC.

The OP might well think it Riley-ish in style!

I recall 15+ years back I needed two scuttle air intakes fro my 7 Swallow saloon. The family pointed me to the correct chap who hand made the items for me.
