Trying to find my old VW Beetle, please help!
Discussion
Hey everyone!
I'm trying desperately to find my old VW Beetle, a 1972 1300 model in Turquoise - reg GKK 329L
It was sold in the Wimbledon area about 20 years ago and appears to have been SORN since an MOT failure in 2006. However, it hasn't been logged as scrapped and the last logbook was issued in 2020, so there is still hope!!
Any helpful advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated. I've even been thinking about hiring a private detective lol, but even with that I don't know where to start!
Thanks,
Phil

A long time since I had a ‘ real’ Beetle, a white 1500. However I still recall the incredible enthusiasm of some Beetle owners, in a friend’s case, verging on the obsessive. There were several VW only mags, probably some still exist. Also there is Classic Car Weekly and its rival Classic car buyer…I imagine you could place a little enquiry in one of those at minimal cost.I see your nickname, so if you are not far from south London, you could seek out local VW groups near you. Some are now devoted to old Campers because of the so-called ‘scene’ but I guess they could help. P.S: just remembered there is a long thread on here with pictures about classics seemingly abandoned, many in overgrown drives/ gardens, etc.
