One of Ken Rudds wonderful creations coming up for Auction in Kings Lynn . £1245 when new and good for around 106 mph , Rudd eventually went further by replacing the SU Carbs with a pair of Webbers which although improved acceleration hampered flexibility .
I will be interested to see what this makes .

Interesting as to why the Weber's hampered flexibility, as every old car I've driven with a pair of DCOE isdedrafts, as long as they are set up right, were all wonderful to drive, with wonderful throttle response. A badly setup set however.......

I would have thought fuel consumption would be slightly higher with the abandonment of the SU set up ?Interesting as to why the Weber's hampered flexibility, as every old car I've driven with a pair of DCOE isdedrafts, as long as they are set up right, were all wonderful to drive, with wonderful throttle response. A bit of history of the car in the OP . Great to see the original owners son Mr Chakravati in one of the photos , his father must have been a bit of a character

Re: the M535i, I got excited at the prospect of a nice E12, but an E28 with 'aero kit', no dog leg box and leather instead of cloth wouldn't be for me. At least it's got some 'genuine' Alpina wheels on it I suppose.

I didn't have time to look in detail at the M535i at the time, but have just had a look, and yes, the non-dogleg gearbox would be a from me as well.I don't mind the leather though, but that cracked dash might be another hard to resolve issue that would have me running away.

That's not like you I don't mind the leather though, but that cracked dash might be another hard to resolve issue that would have me running away.
There is some quite interesting metal going under the hammer a few I would like to own, if I were in such a position.
I thought I knew my 60’s/70’s Italian classics, clearly not ‘ALFA ROMEO GIULIA GTC’
I didn’t know there was a convertible version.
My pick, the leggy ‘193,407’miles 1988 BMW E30 325i CONVERTIBLE, looks rather nice, appears to be wearing its miles well. Would need a considerable gander underneath for rot.
Ferrari 308 GT4, reserve seems very keenly priced. Belts done 10/06/24 recently recommissioned?
Some other quite interesting cars, rare, RHD 260Z, Traction Avant, M535i and the lovely ESPRIT TURBO/ EUROPA JPS.
Question; cars like the Aston Martin DB5, do they ever sell at this kind of auction or are they there to ‘gauge the market/generate interest’? I thought they would be at the more specialized auctions.

Maybe, I should have included this (not mine) very rare. https://angliacarauctions.co.uk/classic-auctions/2...
That Volvo was allegedly sold at auction for £9,300 in November 2021, then again as a commission sale by a dealer in 2023.
The interior is awful IMHO and I wonder if the car isn't quite as good in the flesh as in the pictures.
Will be interesting to get a first hand report from anyone attending the auction.

Yep awful interior and the body looks full of 'whack'.....the badges and name associated will hype it. The interior is awful IMHO and I wonder if the car isn't quite as good in the flesh as in the pictures.
