The Coupes were prettier, IMO of course.

Reminds me of quite a few things...
VW Karmann Ghia (louvred rear lid, shape of lid and rear screen)
Volvo Amazon (shape of back end looked at in a different way, reflector pods, bumper, lights (a bit), wheels)
Various mostly American beasts, such as the Chevy I saw at Quainton (haunches)
Audi TT (because the back end would be just as good as a front end if you put headlights on it)

Have a look at www.Borgward.org.uk They might be thought of as the small BMW of its time - a time when BMW were still building bubble cars. Bill Blydenstein (if I remember right) raced one with success in British sallon in the v early 60s

Sorry but the coupe doesn't do anything for me . . . The big 6 is also a nice one.

"By 1961 he was achieving 84 bhp at the rear wheels and in May won the Spa Grand Prix averaging 92.8 mph for 45 minutes finishing ahead of Alan Hutcheson's works Riley and 40 secs in front of Hacquin's Ecurie Nationale Belge Alpha. In 1959, Cooper formula 2 racing cars, powered by the Borgward 1500cc fuel injected engine, won all 19 major races in their class with Stirling Moss winning the Rouen and Syracuse Grand Prix."

From the website . . .

So they must have been pretty good cars then . . . fast for one thing. They don't look fast, more kind of gentle, friendly city cruisers.
