Brass bumper, repair and chroming
Discussion
I've a 1955 Lancia Aurelia B12, the only model of range to have brass bumpers. They are dented plus a few cracks and needs to be repaired and rechromed.
In order to fix dents etc, they need annealed by putting into a muffle furnace (can't find one to take large rear bumper) at 800 degrees on a Friday evening, then furnace is turned off for the annealing to take place over 24/48 hrs, any one knows of a metalworks with a muffle furnace big enough?
Second option, does anyone know if you can just fill dents and then use an intermediary coat of something that then allows chroming on top?
Finally, is chrome paint any good?
