This cropped up in a collection of photos from the northwest in the Guardian.

It’s belt driven and crude, so I’m assuming a special, or just possibly some form of GN? Guy in the background is either laughing or yawning!

Can't provide any real evidence, but this pic comes from the Sankey Photo Archive. The archive features pictures taken in and around the Lake District. There was a manufacturer called Cumbria Motors, active in the construction of cyclecars from 1914, and based in Cockermouth, Cumbria.

No pictures I can find show anything like this, though. The caption on the Sankey site just says "Single seater sports car, location unknown".

Could well be a home made cycle car, plenty of them about at that time. Even a book telling you how to do it, (repressed version available from Tim Gunn of Repair Shop fame).

Guy in the background is clearly taking a picture with his mobile. As it is in the North this could have been taken any time in the past few weeks - its still black and white up here.

Utter rubbish. The Nokia 3210 didn't even have a camera smile

To my mind, 'cycle car' suggests something with a lot less bonnet?

I think this is a good shout. They built their cyclecars in two forms, a regular 2-seater and a monoplace low-slung car, according to Nick Georgano.

His great great grandson wears his baseball cap that way round. Drives a blacked-out diesel A3 and vapes a lot.

Good shout, certainly looks like it a few years earlier!

Love this from the PDF;

"As far as is known no ‘Cumbria’ car survives, only one wire-spoked wheel..."
