Following the thread of ‘RS2000 Not the best colour’ that was centred around a Beige RS2000 been sold at auction, Mathewson’s in their next sale have some very nice RS2000’s.

Whilst black isn’t my favourite colour for an RS2000, it does look stunning.

Black is hard work to keep clean though!

I much preferred my Venetian Red RS2000, despite the scabby wheels and vinyl roof. laugh

My neighbour had a white one that he used on track, plus a Lotus Elan. This was in the late 80s and I was of that age being obsessed with cars!

Has to be white on these. Iconic colour on any RS really.

Pretty much any colour except Black, White or Red (the 3 most common and popular colours) laugh

For the early broadstripe era cars, my preference would be Signal Orange, Signal Green or Signal Amber.

Later era (post RS Mex & RS18) my preference would be Nordic Blue, Terracotta or Java Green (or Calypso)

the defintive answer below biggrin

Mk1 escort -

bubbles - Ermine white
std - le mans green or stardust silver

Mk2 Escort -

flat front - Amber
snoot (broadstripe) - Diamond white
snoot (late) - Java green

I think you'll find this is correct wink (my mk2 is black banghead)

Well, if you are going to include proper RS2000's, which are those built by AVO at Aveley, and not those German things with the plastic snout wink

Then, in single colour, without decal stripes, my preference is Vista Orange or Modena Green. (the last of the 3 I owned was Vista Orange smile)

With stripes, Stardust Silver with blue decals or Modena Green with Green decals.

An interesting 4 door Australian built car.

All of the Mk 1 and 2 RS colours fine by me, apart from beige smile

Favourites, Mk1, Olympic Blue with thick darker blue stripes, Mk 2, Yellow.

It’s the ‘Snoot’ that makes the car. Without that I’d be looking elsewhere in the direction of Fiat, Lancia or maybe a Capri 3.0 S.

I think he means that he much prefers Mk1's to Mk2's ?

These days I would have any colour if the car & condition were 'right'.

My least favourites for a Mk.2 would be the 'pinky red' Signal Red or 'poor man's black' Midnight Blue.
No offence intended but I always thought Midnight Blue was too close a colour to the back bumpers and trim.

Ironically if Midnight had been available on a Mk.1 I think it would haved looked good against the chrome.

getmecoat

I thought he was referring to the RS 2000 (Mk2) Flat Front that I’ve never seen the point of when the snoot version was such a looker.

Actually, in terms of MK.2's, I do prefer the flat front look of the RS Mex and RS18 to the tuppaware equipped RS2 smile

40+ years ago, there was much banter from AVO Escort owners as well as some Mk.2 RS Mex and 18 owners directed at the tuppaware brigade RS2 owners laugh

See what you mean mate. Flat front Mk.2 RS2000 isn't actually a real thing, anyway. Had to be built up or a conversion from an accident damaged 'droop snout' RS2000.
I think I remember that the flat front was homogolated to keep costs down for clubman racers.

If you like Black then they don't come much better than RUD1T. This was legendary on the RSOC concours scene for years and still owned by the same guy

This car was featured in the RS2000 16v TV advert as RUD11T as the TV people didn't think the actual registration looked 'real'.

The owner is an accountant so the plate always had a slightly different font so as to read AUDIT
