Can anyone help please, this cropped up on a Facebook group I follow, does not look real to me as the front wings and rear wheel arches look all wrong, anybody got any ideas on what it really is or is it real ?

Each was diffedent, to impossible to tell- there is a bit of "63PH" about that one.

Did you get an image of the numberplate?.

Repro I'd say.

Very similar features to this one.

Looks like the same car to me, found this as well that links to it: https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/classic-c...

So it looks like it was built in the 1990's

The question is.....would an original be parked up on a street, at the value they are?

A Sanction or repro is a still a cool and rare spot, at potentially several millions worth, but the chances of it being one of the originals at orders of magnitude greater value is tiny.

My own view is that I struggle to see the similarity between the rear side windows. I know it's not terribly clear on the OP's photo, but it just looks very different to me when compared with the original. Also the rear wing appears wider.

Still wouldn't mind it parked outside my gaff, though!

That looks like a modern Works Service replica, or 'Continuation'.

It is. Many of the road tests in 2019 used that car.

As Williamp says, all 19 were different, The Graham Hunt car is described as a carbon copy of "63 PH" which has the flaired rear arches.

Main differences between individual cars were the power bulges and air scoops beneath the grill but some had different tail lights, different grills and non faired in headlights amongst other tweeks

I think this is the same car that was broken down & which I stopped for and spoke to the driver on the M25 near Orpington some years ago.

It definitely looks hideous enough to be a genuine Zagato...

The photo appears to show Pirelli P6000 tyres, which seem an unlikely choice on an original or continuation to me...

They are a bizarre choice for ANY car as they are a truly awful tyre on pretty much anything other than a shopping trolley laugh

Back in the late 70’s I worked at an Aston Martin ”specialist” in Lower Upham and a red one of these used to come in for servicing, work etc. DB4 GT running gear I recall, triple Webbers, and a moss Gearbox?

I wasn’t allowed to drive it, but the next door salesman who raced an Imp did, he reckoned it was the fastest Aston up to then he had driven, 3 figure speeds up Mortimer's lane smile

Don't forget the 'proper' Zagatos were based on the DB4 GT, which had a shorter wheelbase than the DB4 and if, which is possible, this is the car in the Graeme Hunt link, that advert says 'based on a DB4 Sports , so I presume not on a GT.

Knowing the way he writes his spiel, if it was based on a GT we'd have heard all about it. Some of his stock does look good but I find his story telling quite amusing, though I'm sure it's not meant to be smile

It's not because the car in this thread is RHD and Graham Hunt's car is LHD. Other than that... hehe
