Contemplating a run over to Kings Lynn for this upcoming Auction and I have been watching the catalogue gradually expand with new entrants . Looking at this RS which to be fare isn't a concours example although its a pretty late one . Its not its best colour and you would need to get your figures right in order to take into account the cost of putting matters right . The trouble is with Fast Fords that they can literally end up anywhere depending on who wants it . Looking at the Pictures it has the feel of being overdone especially with those Mud Flaps , anyone recognise the car ?

Some of the less desirable colours are now becoming sought after. Beige and chocolate, proper late 70's.

It's going to be hiding some demons though once the paint is stripped off, must have had an older resto at some point that's now showing it's age.

Good luck if you end up bidding, as you say where these end price wise is anyones guess now.

Not worried about the Fords but the Alfa 166 & Alfetta are lovely. Could be tempted by the Triumph Herald as well.

It could be hiding a multitude of sins under that paint work, although, it looks all there, but I'd be wanting to go over that with a big magnet, and having a good look underneath it......
Not the best colour granted, although some people like it. It is a late one having a Jan 1980 build code.
I would think it will go for good money and then people find out that it needs another 20k spending on it......which is why its often better to start with a 12k project that clearly needs 30k chucking at it.

No, I thought that as well on first look.

Yeah it is a different colour. It looks very complete though, with some of the harder to find bits present.

Quite like that colour combo, my first choice would be orange but the beige is unusual.

Yes, the fact that it looks quite complete is one good thing. Its a shame its not actually a bit rougher so the price would be lower!

Of the later colours, Java, Nordic and Terracotta are my favourites.

For the earlier broadstripe cars (which I prefer) Signal Green or Signal Orange would be my preferred colour.

My problem is I don't like Black, White, Red or Yellow......which doesn't leave much options laugh

Shame about the four speakers in the interior. Still pretty stock though bar the Fiesta rear fog light.

Have the seats been recovered? The fabric looks really light against the vinyl parts.

As others have said, needs a really close inspection. The price estimate seems decent (as long as it isn't made of filler!).

I don't know what's gone on with that coach line tape , in one picture it appears to go right across the panel gap .

Paintwork a bit bubbly in that area also (off side).

I had a beige one in 1991 ,not for long though , as somebody else also wanted beige and stole it in broad daylight , no battery fitted , so pulled onto tow truck and gone ,never to be seen again .

Had a pair of big side draughts with an otherwise unknown power output .

Agreed, looks like a pig someone has already stuck 'lipstick' on in and attempt to achieve an inflated sale price. Would definitely want a good crawl over/underneath it before sticking my hand in the air at auction.

Anyone who buys that for around the estimated guide price without a close inspection is either Brave, or foolish.

IMO, I reckon that was painted not all that long ago [within last 5 years, probably less] and is hiding quite a lot of rot.

I remember when this colour came out and thought what the hell are Ford thinking, especially after all the other lovely vibrant colours they offered at the time. I thought this beige was for the basic versions only?

It looks surprisingly good considering its that horrible colour.
I had one the same age with the same interior it was a horrible dull organge colour called terracotta, so we had it resprayed bright red! It looked so much better (this was back in the days when they only cost £2k and were no longer popular as everyone wanted a modern hot hatch and the Rs2000 was relatively old fashioned and undesirable at that point. I wish I had a photo of the reg would love to know if it survived.
