Yes , I was listening to that on a spirited drive in my MX5 over some very slippery and deserted minor roads in south east Yorkshire . Proper messed up my heel and toeing it did

A couple of books about the 1907 Peking-Paris Race. Barzini’s book is a primary source as he was on board the Itala, but The Mad Motorists is also worth a read as there’s more about the other competitors especially after the Itala disappeared into the distance

They (Historic Rally Association) are still running a version of this rally and I did some work on this Bentley following the 2013 event.

My daughter bought me the book from a secondhand book shop in Omaru, New Zealand and gave it to me for my birthday. One of my treasured possessions. I couldn’t believe it when they were reading it on Radio 4. I remembered it pretty much word for word even though it was 2012 she gave it to me.
