Saw this beauty a month ago at the Shuttleworth event early October. What a beauty.

Google sez it's an Amilcar Riley Special, which sounds like posh speak for heinz 57.

'Heinz'? It's just an engine/chassis match, same as done today.

I was there and it was my favourite car too - lots of patina - think it's full name was Amilcar - Riley Hill Climb Special

Is it a well known period special? That 'patina' looks a bit false to my eyes.

It competes in VSCC events - it looked authentic to me - but I'm not an expert!

Amilcar Rileys have been around since the early 1920s but I don't know if this one dates back to then. I read a 2015 article stating that chassis and engine were 'mated' 20 years earlier.

Cant add anything useful to the thread, but what a lovely thing that car is, looks a serious bit of fun.

There are some impressively bonkers cars in VSCC events; they're by far our most popular to watch whether racing, trials, hill climbs and the nice thing is, the drivers are approachable and happy to chat.

Couldn't agree more. Some wonderfully eccentric and OTT cars with v down to earth owners.
