Old US Station Wagon - Cuba

Is this some kind of home made chimera? Or is it actually a thing?
Seen in Varadero, Cuba.
SD.
Judging by the large "strake" running backwards from the middle of the rear door, I'd say it was factory-built (though fugly!)
Having said that, the Cubans do "cut and shut" the most unlikely cars into stretch limos.
And because of the difficulty in getting spares for American cars that big station wagon might even have a Lada engine.

It was originally a '58 Cadillac and they never made a factory Caddy wagon. The roof line indicates its not even a '58 Caddy hearse either, so it's a likely home built from a 4 door sedan.
