Car cover or no car cover?
Discussion
Hi all.
Unfortunately I have no garage at home, during the winter I’ll not be using the GTV, as it has not a sign of rust, I want to keep it looking good underneath.
It will be off the road for a number of months. From experience, is it better for it to be under a decent breathable car cover, or open to the elements? I’ve read car covers can cause blistering/paint problems.

From experience a car cover would be last on my list.
Top would be to see if you can rent a garage locally.
Or is it going to be stored somewhere you could put up a temporary garage (anything from a gazeboo to a Carcoon)?
If neither of the above are options a really good wash then wax with a good quality wax, twice if you're feeling keen/it stays dry long enough.

There is a great car storage company very locally, this is £26 a week, and it’s stored in a large barn, under a car cover, on tricks charge, I have thought about this, but not sure the timings of when to put it in/take it out again.
Carcoons look great too, but we wouldn’t be able to fit one on our drive, so it would have to be at my folks, not sure how they would feel about one.
A good clean and wax could be an option too.

Over the winter I always put a couple of those £1 dehumidifiers in my cars.
Stops moisture inside.
I have some in my car too and find they make zero difference - but that's more down to BLs idea of water/dust sealing a car in the 1970s (i.e. throw a bucket of water at the car and it's a pass so long as the bucket deosn't end up inside!) than the concept of using them.Stops moisture inside.
Think it’s all sorted now I found this company, a 10 minute drive from me, £7 a week for indoor storage, which doesn’t sound too bad at all. Now to see if they have space..

Two friends, one a car restorer, one a P.H. type: They tried a pop up garage and a car cover respectively. Now, the cover was not the dearest, but it rubbed on the bodywork of the 3Series coupe; the garage caused condensation. I came to the conclusion that thorough cleaning and waxing is the best solution, if you are somewhere windy ( not on a seafront!) so much the better. The lock up garage solution may work if it’s near your home but it will need to be dry and preferably draughty

That sounds great, just what you want.https://southmalvernselfstorage.co.uk/malvern-car-...
I would just check what sort of insurance they have. Also check with your own insurer, especially if you have an agreed value classic car policy. You may even get a discounted, no road risks, premium while it’s in storage.
