Lucas Windtone horns
Discussion
I'm looking to fit a period-sounding set of horns to my old Land Rover, to replace the generic buzzy 12v one it currently has.
I see that there are reproduction Lucas WT618 windtone horns available on ebay.. fairly pricey, but youtube clips of genuine WT618 suggest the sound I'm looking for.
Does anybody know if these repro horns are exactly the same as the originals in terms of sound?
TIA

If the horn casing and trumpet is still of alloy construction I'd imagine the sound is of similar tone and pitch to the originals. The trick is to have a high and low pair for that 'balanced...' period sound.
Here, I've got a pair of PIAA horns on the Landy tucked away under the passenger side wing. They're loud but not overly loud, and on today's over crowded roads should anyone not see a two tonne Ninety...it's amazing how many fail to do so...they soon do.
