Agree, a beautiful car. What surprised me was just how expensive it was compared to the Ferrari he mentioned. It appears a new Grifo around 1965 was about 5,600 GBP (I stand to be corrected). An Aston DB5 was about 4,400GBP and an average house was 3,400GBP.

I didn't need the video to confirm that the Grifo is a piece of beautiful automotive art .

I did start to watch it but I get no audio on Youtube on Chrome but I do get it on another browser .confused

Absolutely stunning and that LT-1 looks in rude health. Not sure he realises it runs solid lifters and is a 5.7. I should imagine it's a lot better balanced than the later big block Grifo's.

Love those cars, sadly very expensive, but nice.

fun also the video, not seen all, but fragments, look after 31.40 min, he just did a fast run before using the power, then he wants to do such again but spotted a bicycle and waited, listen what he said hahah lol.

Yes, didn't do his homework very well, as the LT-1 as you say is a 350, not a 327.

I'd still rather a Grifo Can-Am with the 427 BB though, just because biggrin

One of my favourite cars, but then I've always been a sucker for a bit of US muscle in a posh frock smile

Thanks for sharing I’ll have a look. Hopefully doesn’t meet such an unfortunate end as the last one restored and documented on here (many years ago).

If memory serves, there was a transition to Ford from Chevy with the big block cars.

Other way around, the big-block Chevy engines were discontinued in 1972 and were replaced by the Ford Boss 351 small block engines.

Stunning cars - for some reason I've always loved European cars with American V8 power like this!

So they moved to the Cleveland from the BBC. I was certain there were some factory Ford big blocks knocking around, but my memory is hazy to say the least.

..the same Carello rear lamps as the Alfa 105, ...and the first few hundred Elan Plus 2's (before they went to E Type lamps)

Pretty sure Iso never fitted any Ford big block engines in any Grifo.
The 454 BBC's were massively detuned for emission by 1973 model year, and Ford were still selling the Boss351 over the counter having just discontinued the Boss 351 Mustang in the summer of '71. The Boss351 had more hp/tq than the detuned highest output 454BBC for '73.

As far as I know you are correct. Grifo engines were Corvette 327 or 427 in the Series I cars and, variously, Corvette 327,350, 427 and 454 and Ford 351 in the Series II cars. A confusion over "big block fords" might be because the Ford 351 engined cars had a "pagoda" bonnet scoop similar in appearance to the scoop that was previously only a feature of the big block corvette cars. Accordingly the Ford engined cars looked like big block cars but were in fact small block.

I used to own a Series 1 427. Shouldn't have sold it.....
Cue gratuitous picture....

Iso did change over to the Ford V8 in the later Leles though wink

Saw this gorgeous Grifo at Sywell recently...

I must confess to preferring the earlier A3/Cs, however in that blue with the 'low profile' bonnet your car looks gorgeous.
