Interesting, as a 'layman' are towing eyes one way of spotting whether or not a Cosseh is a genuine RS500 or not?

They were not fitted to the later 909 bare motorsport race shells, came as a bag of brackets to weld on as required during the shell prep. It is one of many very basic checks most cosworth enthusiasts are aware of, read the latest comment on the you tube vid for the actual background of this example.

something doesn't add up

MOT expired in 2020 , Its SORN , But looking at MOT history only goers as far back as 2007 , , Last keeper change in jan 2012 ... ist reg with DVLA in 2007 :

Why would you buy a car in jan 2012 with no MOT ??? last tested in 2009 .............then not MOT it until April 2013 !!

As fishy as one of mrs Miggins Fruit pies

With that mileage, youd potentially buy it as a garage queen, so MOT or not doesnt really matter

"Vehicle make" is very odd on the MOT check.

I've only ever seen Ford or Volkswagen (for example) before.

It's the last V5c issued, not necessarily a change of keeper. I've done this check myself smile but it can only be a guide; a change of address, change of colour or engine size, replacing a lost V5c, can all be a reason. They also issued replacement V5c without being asked to replace the very old style one page ones, but I can't remember when that was. scratchchin

Yep and despite that second vid the seller fully knows that, confirmed by them online way back in 2009 for all the world to see.

Just a local dvla office cock up when it was first registered in the UK, having originally been Jersey registered, happens all the time with imports.

It should be given it was restored back in 2005 ish well after the reshell. Original is not a term that should be used.

Sadly Paul people will believe him because of who he is, like you a reshell isn't original to me no matter who tells me.

Nothing wrong with a reshell, as long as it is disclosed when known (which it is by the seller) I take it Tim you are one of the many to have had less than pleasant dealings with the self appointed "Mr RS500"

Waxing lyrical about its originality in that second vid, and all the fan boys jumping on board praising the "honesty" .

So so wrong.

I've not had any dealings with him thankfully, but I've been around the RS scene since the 90's (as have you) so know who he is.

I've never taken to him in all those years from going to shows etc. He's a salesman and will tell you whatever you want for a sale.

The front bumper is shocking, nice? it's all sorts of wonky from that front picture. Certainly nice, isn't the word I'd use?

Ran with a standard 3dr bumper on for years after the reshell. The roof skin came off a normal sierra sourced in a scrap yard as the replacement shell started off as a non sunroof version,

The blokes an idiot. Mate had a bit of a spat with him about the black one at Race Retro this year. We were stood next to it and took plenty pictures. He claimed it had never had paint. It had, and not very well either.
Typical mouth piece, know-it-all. Mate ended up being blocked/removed from the RS site/forum or whatever.

Yes, that is the standard response I am afraid whenever he is proved to be wrong. There are legions of long term owners/enthusiasts who have had the same done to them over the years.

"Comments" suddenly turned off on the second you tube video now the truth has been exposed!

What a surprise.

However I screen shot the pertinent part.
