Does anyone please know a fast way of getting a Volkswagen certificate of manufacture date please? VW are an 8 week lead time and I am racking up ULEZ and Congestion Charge fines daily.

DVLA have my Mk1 Golf Gti registered on 01.01.1983 and manufactured 31.12.1983. Obviously wrong but DVLA computer says no so I have to provide evidence but would like to get it ASAP.

DVLA will only accept VW Certificate or "An extract from the Glass Check Book. This is a guide to production dates which includes chassis numbers; these were only available to the motor trade via a subscription". Does anyone know what that is please?

Thanks

https://www.clubvw.org.au/vwreference/vwvin/

Can you use the VIN to show the car was built between Aug 1982 and July 1983?

And the Historic Volkswagen Club offers a certificate service that satisfies the DVLA:

These were a weighty tome full of fun facts, figures and key identification data. I have a couple somewhere, from my sales days, but I think they only went back about 10 years for most marques, a bit more for stuff like Rolls Royce and Bentley. I will try to dig them out and see if they go back that far.

That would be fantastic if you could. DVLA are very specific in what they will accept, much appreciated

Morning

Smokey above beat me to it! My oldest book is the 1993 version which sickeningly misses the Mk1 by months, beginning with the Mk2 in Type 19 guise.

For reference, this is what the book looks like:

And this is the entry for the Golf GTI:

Oh so close!

Thank you for trying. I have ordered a certificate now and will just have to wait and dodge the congestion charge bailifs!

Thank you very much, that's great. I'm not that narrows it down exactly to the month so don't really know why DVLA recommended that but I will send it to them anyway.

Much appreciated!
