So, anyone want to guess how much this will sell for?

I am guessing £1.5m.

Details are vague on the auction page, will update in due course.

Only has the EJ20 engine in it from a standard STi, not the full fat EJ22 that the other 22B’s have.
But it’ll fetch big money.

It's been raced and rallied too, and I'd be amazed if it's never been seriously damaged in it's time - But it'll still fetch big money! wink

With the history and Colins legendary status it could fetch perhaps £2 million..

Was this the one McRae took Jon Desborough (TV rally presenter) out in many moons ago?

If it’s true that it’s just got a replacement EJ20 engine in it, then that’s a real shame. If it wasn’t for the celebrity owner association, that would make it pretty much the least desirable 22B out there.

I owned one for a couple of years and made the princely sum of £500 profit on it. Bought for £21,000 and sold for £21,500 about 10 years ago. I have just looked it up in My Garage on here and seen that I predicted it as my top tip for future classic status and investment potential. That was back in 2013. Now they sell for nigh on £200,000!

I would have said 500k tops, but then somebody recently paid 600k for an old Sierra so anything could happen if two people want it enough on the day.

These numbers sound like cloud cuckoo-land to me. I'll be delighted to be proved wrong but IMO £100k looks a big number.

Here's a link to the actual auction listing, rather than just a screenshot of an aggregator site

You've got to think it's worth more than Princess Di's old escort and the base car to start off with is worth a lot more but as with any auction of a one off, it's going to come down to two people who just have to have it.

Just found a YouTube link. It’s only about 1 minute of footage.

How anyone still lauds a person who directly caused the deaths of so many innocent people including their own child if beyond me, just because he could on occasion drive other people cars quickly.

A somewhat ignorant and unneeded comment , people do still hold Colin in high esteem , myself included . I guess others views will be reflected in the selling price , and it won't be cheap .

Quite right, Graham Hill still being lauded as 'Mr Monaco' etc. despite that horrible plane crash frown RIP Tony Brise.

He crashed a helicopter, by accident. He didn't run rampage somewhere with a machine gun....... rolleyes

Plenty of people - famous or not - have been found liable for accidents and not vilified. Graham Hill as above, Keith Moon, Venus Williams to name but 3.

And he was flying the helicopter outside it's limits, so hardly an innocent accident.

Tell that to the parents of his sons friend who was also killed in that chopper he was show boating in. If that was your child would he still be a motoring hero regardless?

Graham Hill’s plane that he died in had no certificate of airworthiness

It was unregistered too

Hill’s instrument rating had expired, as had his night flying rating.

The crash itself was officially indeterminable in terms of cause, but questions were asked about the pilot’s (Hill) judgement and decision making.

It’s all remarkably similar to the McRae incident, yet Colin is vilified and Hill’s accident is largely forgotten.

Perhaps because Hill is perceived as this debonair gentleman and McRae as this risk-taking adrenaline junkie, therefore people conclude that Hill made an error and McRae was being reckless.

To me, this is unfair.

rolleyes wondered when someone would drag that up.
