Yes not many 'W reg's', these two were ex press/dealer cars, then prod. saloons, then seen here in 1990 as Slick 50 Road Saloons. VVW 2W was restored back to a 'Press Car'.
This one being auctioned looks good, will make a nice resto, shame about the 'excessive corrosion' mentioned in the MOT. Looks like the front seats are on the wrong sides, and I guess the original centre consul lid collapsed as they do.

I’ve had five 2.8i Capris and had many more through my hands.
This one’s plate ( if original to this 2.8i ) is a Chelmsford issue. From memory the Ford main agents for Chelmsford were Tricentrol, but Does of Maldon ( RS agents ) also sold a fair few 2.8i inc a lovely 1 owner 42,000 mile X Reg caspian blue over silver one, that I sold to a buyer from Orkney, in 2010, for £6,500 quid ! That car must be £30k now.
Very poor description of this blue over silver W plate one, by the auction people. No mention of its history etc. ?
I didn’t see any signs of it being “ plastered in under seal “ ( unless I missed a few photos on this phone that is ?? ) the under seal on the front chassis rails is the original.
The cars shell looks really solid.
Sadly the sunroof Capris ( MK1 included ) do rot their roofs ( one reason why I sold a very straight white D Reg one back in 2012 ) as it’s difficult / time consuming to repair properly.
But, If I had the funds, I would be putting a bid in on this one.

Could also mean it was originally registered by FoMoCo.This one’s plate ( if original to this 2.8i ) is a Chelmsford issue. From memory the Ford main agents for Chelmsford were Tricentrol, but Does of Maldon ( RS agents ) also sold a fair few 2.8i

Plastered in under-seal didnt leave Ford like that and pickling up around sunroof seams bleeding rust thats seen plenty damp storage not exactly a great find for the right price maybe but I think not
I think it looks pretty good for the age, I had a low mileage 1987 2.8i special which I sold in 1997 and even at ten years old it had signs of rust in the wings, bonnet lip and front panel so this one at 40 years old looks to have survived well in terms of rust. Rob 131 Sport said:
The early 2.8i Capri’s look great. I often find that with many manufacturers, the original was the best.
I much prefer the original Mk2 Granada and SD1 as opposed to the 82 year facelifts.
The original of any car, styling wise, is almost always the best. Gargantuan sums of money have been invested in it and it had been deliberated over time and time again. Three years later, following American practice, a refresh is deemed necessary mainly by marketing teams, but the budget for that will be constrained, if not minimal, resulting in new lights maybe a modified front end, and the odd new panel pressing. This is true of most mainstream car makers.I much prefer the original Mk2 Granada and SD1 as opposed to the 82 year facelifts.
