Another what car?
Discussion
Oooh yes that looks like it!
Do you know if there’s any way of finding out if it got scrapped or if it’s still around?
That’s my Father aged 17. His Dad Claude Stanley was also a petrol head and had a showroom and motor business in London - the building no longer exists sadly but I have some adverts - here’s one. I’ve got another car photo too
I love this Ad, I’ve got a few from their business. “FIAT and other High Class motor vehicles”

Building on what others have said - 1927 Wolesley 11/22
Google doesn't show an exact match, but as ever with pre '30s cars, the coachwork had many variations for the same model/chassis.
This one appears to have an upstand from the dashboard with a horizontal lower rail to the windscreen, aligned to earlier cars. It also has front wheel brakes aligned to the later models unlike the pic posted above.
The Croydon VB registrations ran from June 27 to Jan 31, so this car was likely registered in summer '27.

This is a bit of family research
I know VB was South Croydon reg which fits with where my Father lived
Any ideas on the car?
No idea on the car manufacturer, but interesting to see the mechanical dipping headlights in the 'dipped' position.....n/s facing down and o/s swung to face left.I know VB was South Croydon reg which fits with where my Father lived

I noticed those too. I’d love to find out what it was. I’m guessing if we can’t identify that one, there’s not much chance for these… (my grandparents).

Thanks so much, that fits with the handwritten note. My Father would have been 17 years old Google doesn't show an exact match, but as ever with pre '30s cars, the coachwork had many variations for the same model/chassis.

The top one looks like Humber from around 1905 or 1906. The bottom one could be a Mercedes. I’m guessing if we can’t identify that one, there’s not much chance for these… (my grandparents).

Also worth remembering that back in the early days of motoring, extending into the 1920s era, we had a couple of hundred ‘car manufacturers’. Many working out of almost a large shed or two, most fell by the wayside by early 1930s. My own vintage car was a Bayliss Thomas of 1927 vintage, IIRC they made about 1100 cars in total.
