Techno Classica 2023
Discussion
Anyone going this year to ruin their feet, eat currywurst and salty chips, dribble over expensive shiny things on the Theisen and Gallery Aaldering stands and then enjoy all the random, wonderful stuff (and occasional, yet still brilliant, tat) on display/for sale outside? Any maybe look at the odd 911?
Yep, I’m going!
Last time I went would have been 2019.
I stay in Düsseldorf (great alt bier bars) and get the train to Essen.
Check out Classic Remise, in Düsseldorf as well. It’s a classic car storage facility, cafe etc.

Some great cars in there that probably change almost weekly.
Hope to go to Retromobil in Paris at some point.

Essen is a great show. Remise is brilliant too. Enjoy. Last time I went would have been 2019.

Be aware if travelling by train to Essen over the weekend. The main station is partially closed which was a real pain in the butt.
“2: Bochum and Essen
From Friday, March 31, 9:00 p.m. to Friday, April 14, 9:00 pm the ICE and IC trains will be diverted between Dortmund Hbf and Duisburg Hbf and will not stop in Bochum Hbf and Essen Hbf, due to track renewal work between Essen main station and Duisburg main station”
A number of dealers had some of last years multi million euro stock on display again, a couple of BMW 507’s and 250 Ferraris. Maybe the market is telling them these cars are overpriced and / or far from original.
Otherwise a great show, as usual. Star cars for me ? A RHD white Toyota 2000 GT and a nice grey / tan Fiat Dino Spyder. The effort Mercedes put into supporting their classics is very impressive compared to BMW who seemingly don’t give a toss leaving local owners cubs / registers to represent them
Agreed regarding the effort Mercedes put in to the show, their area was amazing.“2: Bochum and Essen

Loved this Gullwing next to Mercedes. £2.3m but you had to buy shares in it and not use it.
Another year, another good show. Much like 2022 if felt quieter than usual, and what manufactures were there were running much smaller stands. No Volvo, BMW, Jaguar/LR, Porsche, Alfa etc (unless I missed them: there was a lot of walking!). The clubs/random tat/private sellers element was smaller too. BUT what was there was good, with plenty of variety.
I’m not the biggest Porsche fan, however the 2.7 RS Tourings on the Early911s stand were lovely, lovely things.
