Algarve Classic Car Scene
Discussion
I’m down in the Algarve for a couple of months and wondering if there are any Classic Car clubs or meetings down here. I’ve done a quick Google search by but not found anything. I’ve seen a Porsche 356 and MGB driving by, but was unable to speak to the owners.
Would be good to make some contacts as I have plenty of spare time.

you need to use the term "old timers" when on the continent.
I did look up a car meet once but decided not to walk up and join in! it was just a bunch of expat couples who all knew each other meeting in old Mercs and Beetles going for a beer/coffee. Nothing wrong with Beetles, I had one down there myself, but I fancied car chat as I have other friends down there for just a beer. there certainly are many expats with interesting cars there. Dr Interceptor may be down in his Ferrari/Macca/Mustang?

Pictures will be posted.Well, it’s not a bad way to spend a mid-winter Sunday morning. A reasonable selection of classic stuff, cloudless skies and 18C. Then a walk along the beach and a cooling pint of Sagres. Not too shabby.
Best of the bunch for me was the Suffolk SS100 that came down from Scotland in the Autumn and has enjoyed the winter here.

Hi moffspeed - this is amazing. The SS100 is my car. I must’ve seen you there this morning.Best of the bunch for me was the Suffolk SS100 that came down from Scotland in the Autumn and has enjoyed the winter here.
Small world ! Congrats on the car, I think the Suffolk SS is one of the classic world’s unsung heroes. Looks so right, great build quality and not crazily expensive.
We spoke to your wife (or was it your friend’s wife?) who gave us the low down.
The Algarve is perfect for classic cars (other than during super-hot and crowded mid-summer). Brilliant driving roads - especially in the mountains and along the West coast and the friendliest enthusiasts you’ll find anywhere.
We split our time evenly between Sussex & the Algarve and the logistic are such that I’m without a classic car for the first time in years. Yesterday was a reminder of what I’m missing….

I ike those old dark blue numberplates from Portugal, I always think when I see classics for sale with such sort numberplate that they are from the Netherlands, older cars here use the same plates, also the way they do that, the same as here (old plates)
I guess the weather is also mostly better then over here in the Netherlands, also nice roads,
how is living over there, I guess a lot can speak English over there? not that I'm really good at it, but I guess they understand my English better then if I only would speak Dutch, my language.
what is better, living in Spain or saver in Portugal...

I hope to be there Feb 5th.
that's an epic drill from Scotland. was it via the ferry or through France?
Portsmouth to Bilbao ferry. Then a relaxed journey staying at various Paradors in Spain. Bilbao - Santa Domingo de la Calzada - Salamanca - Merida - Beja - Lagos. Used all the back roads avoiding motorways.that's an epic drill from Scotland. was it via the ferry or through France?

I’ll be there for the March meet and look forward to meeting bodmino and CABC - a Lotus connection I’m guessing?
At this time of the year - a couple of miles down the road from A de P - you can reconnect with nature at Praia dos Salgados and meet these guys:
