We have a classic car that we hire out for weddings, transporting the bride or groom to the venue, etc (it's a two seater). Presently we have an extortionate insurance policy with Adrian Flux, who consider such use to be 'hire and reward' and therefore are insuring the car effectively as a private hire minicab, even though it could never be plated as such. However I know other people use their classic and vintage cars on a semi casual basis for weddings and receive payment - ours is established as a proper business, with me as a sole trader, public liability insurance, declared income, etc, while others operate on the QT and take cash in hand kind of thing. Is there a classic car insurance out there who would cover a classic car for SDP use including the wedding hire? Paying extortionate sums to Adrian Flux makes it nonviable as a revenue earning venture, we only do half a dozen weddings a year now post-Covid. Of course I want to ensure the cover is adequate, and don't wish to cut any corners.

If you request the cover, Footman James can include up to I think about a dozen weddings a year on a normal classic car policy, any more than that you'll need a special wedding policy.

I used to "do weddings", and insured my Silver Wraith for SD&P and weddings through
https://www.rhspecialistinsurance.co.uk/
They would either cover individual occasions, or, for the cost of around five such occasions, cover any number within the annual mileage limit.
They had some nice touches: breakdown cover, retention of salvage, and unlimited windscreen cover, and up to five drivers at no extra premium.
I positively did not want "special occasions" cover, such as proms and granny's birthday. £400 seems a hell of a price for a wedding, but it's even more unreasonable for these other occasions, and it was much easier to simply say "no - not insured" than to explain about local authorities and private hire licences.
I never had to claim, but know a couple of friends who did, and they were very happy with the service.

I've just insured my VW T2 that I use for weddings with https://www.weddinginsurancegroup.co.uk/wedding-ca...

My policy is very reasonable, includes SDP, PLI and Breakdown cover.

Heritage car insurance https://www.heritagecarinsurance.co.uk/ allows occasional wedding car hire as part of their classic car policy. I think it's up to 10 events a year.Their number is 0121 248 9229
