Buying classic car in UK before its been UK registered

Hi all,
have been offered a classic Fiat at a great price which is already in the UK but yet to be registered.
Anyone have any experience doing the same? things to be wary of?
Owner has docs but hasn't completed the NOVA (car was brought from Italy years ago and sat in storage since). With the car already being in the UK will this be difficult? As looking at the C384 form they ask for "Particulars of importation" which i clearly don't have.
