I have an old single cylinder motorcycle with an engine and gearbox which work perfectly but are very scruffy with layers of daubed-on paint.

I could dismantle the engine into components, then split the gearbox then get it blasted and repainted but this seems like a silly thing to do when it works well and I could spend the time and money doing something else. Also there is always a danger of assembling it worse than it is now.

However, I obviously don't want to force the blasting medium into the engine or damage the various seals and gadgets.

Dry ice?

thanks

Dry ice wont remove the daubed on paint.

It’s hard to say without seeing it but a wire wheel on a dremmel type tool might be worth a go.

Should be possible to mask off seals, blank off inlet ex etc if you can spend the time making cover plates or whatever is needed.
