Jag - French Trip
Discussion
Apologise guys I haven't responded to your post. Covid may well have robbed the world of 2 yrs but I don't understand where the last fortnight has gone either!
Rob 131 Sport, littleredrooster and tberg - Jag in France- you're so right it's such a refreshing way to drive without potholes, speed cameras, cluttered legislative street furniture and sanctimonious militant anti motorists.
I appreciate that ambling along without the pressure of an appointment or meeting does put a different perspective on your day but I like to drive "making good progress", I don't drive like my backside is on fire but when the occasion is appropriate I do like to cruise quite rapidly because I enjoy it! - Motoring in the UK is spoilt now.
I don't post as much now, I just wanted to share. What did anyone make of the little Bubblecar - I hadn't seen one before was it something from East Germany?
Tony, thnx for your post as well, is that V12 Migaloo lurking in the background at Reims? His recent rebuild, puts my Supercharged '40 to shame.
The cemetery is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryes_War_Cemetery, we came across it whilst exploring backroads.
I felt bad afterwards because I realised I had posted without facing the graves. It was, as is always, very sobering. The lads, British, German, Canadian, so young, so innocent, lives wasted for what?
If it interests you, the new museum in Falaise has been built upon the ruins of house and one of the exhibitions is a darkened room with a glass floor showing where a bomb landed down into the cellar. The museum is different because it focuses upon the people that the were affected rather than soldiers or armament per se; very moving and touching- highly recommended visit.
We’ve been going as a family into Europe (Driving) for last 20 Years.
We always said that when the children had grown up this would cease until our retirement.
True to our word (not) the wife and I are going Portsmouth to St. Malo, having a couple of days in La Rochelle followed by a few days in some locations in central western France followed by a week in the Dordogne.
I love driving in France, the scenery, food and the French are always so hospitable (I always speak French).

No, that is sadly a bog-standard S3 XJ6 which belonged to Martin and Petronel Payne, stalwarts of the JDC and sadly no longer with us and the car was crushed - very rusty.. The red E-type belongs to Nigel Webb who owns XKC004 and the 1955 D-type, always seen at the Revival and Le Mans Classic. The green E-type is chassis #13, now in the USA and the blue one is of course my old 1961 flat floor. The owner of the yellow V12 died 25 years back and no idea where the car is. Here is Hermanville - you can see why I wondered. The crosses are French berets verts buried with the English
