Saw this in London yesterday. Looked small and Italian possibly Maserati or one of the etceterini cars. Any thoughts?

It's very short.

First thought was a Monza 860 replica/lookalike

I get the impression its a kit car/replica.

No way would it have left the factory with all those bolt on chrome bits and if it was an original. And no owner of an original would add those bits.

Looks like the poor Testa Rossa replica spotted on here the other day (3 September):

It’s funny how the vast majority of PHers on here never see their classic spotted on these pages, yet this guy with the kit car gets snapped twice in a week.

More of a Dino 196S replica rather than Testa Rossa

Yup, too much chrome. Why do they do that, see it on Cobra replicas too? I mean, if you can't afford the real thing - and I can't either - why over-egg it? At least try... I wouldn't mind, but paint's cheaper for chrissakes

The curious thing I find is that if I see a Stratos , C-Type, 289 Cobra or GT 40 replica , I think 'God yes, respect'. But if I see one of those MR 2 Ferraris , or any Cobra replica which apes the bloated 427 look I am unmoved.

Agreed, if you can't afford a GT40 etc - and even if you can - a replica offers real-world fun. Some cars pass the 15 foot replica test well. Some don't. Saw a Stratos replica a few weeks back, and had to be 15 feet away to tell. And when the penny dropped I smiled. Loved it anyway. Tell me you're going to fool me, and then fool me.

That er... Ferrari, it's a fake at 300 yards. May as well bung a 'M-free innit' badge on there and have it done.
