Given money / time / space what would you build?

Please post pics. Renders welcome. Those that have the skills to render other peoples ideas please do.

I always thought the Jaguar Mk.X / 420G should have has the V12.

So that’s my first entry;

Jaguar Mk.X with 6.0 XJR-S V12 & 4 speed auto.
AP racing brakes under 15” versions of the original steels.

Outwardly standard otherwise.

I’m with you on that one.

Always fancied doing one with the V12 unit.

Not an easy fit apparently

Triumph Stag with an LS1 tyope engine, and transmission to suit. (IIRC Monkfish1 on here told me he was building something like this, might be wrong.)

Rover P6 with with an electric motor, for commuting.

Not really resto-mod, but would love to 3SGTE a variety of old Corolla's for some reason. More a bit of a guilty passion.

Infact, an AE86 with K20/K24 on ITB's would be right up there for me.

But the MK X did have a V12! Dennis Jenkinson ("Jenks") was at the factory one day and Sir William invited him to take out a MK X to see how it felt - but on the condition that he did not open the bonnet. Astonished by the performance, he pressed sSr William for an answer as to what was under the bonnet. Sir William remained aloof, but the MK X was being used as a mule for the quad-cam 5 litre engine for the XJ13.

Myself? I think I have done with projects at my age, but one can never say never. The problem is I'd have to sell one of the current two, and I know I would regret it if I did. I fondly remember my Dad's MG ZA Magnette, and have dreams of buying one, adding an uprated Rover V8, Wilwood brakes, IRS, aircon, auto transmission etc etc, but keeping the overall look as standard as possible. That would frighten a few people at the traffic lights grand prix biglaughyikes

ETA:- Come to think of it, a Chevrolet LS3 would probably be a better choice. 500 bhp and amazing value at $9,000.

hehe That Mk10 must have been incredible with the 4 cam under the bonnet!

For me, i'd have to pick something along the lines of a Mk 1 Cortina 2 door, with Honda K20 and supporting axle/chassis modifications, or something like an E24 635CSI with an e46 M3 S54 engine/gearbox, something to give it the performance and sound to match the Grp. A touring cars from the 80s cloud9

Not exactly reinventing the wheel in terms of restomods, but certainly beyond my expertise/budget unfortunately!

Norman Dewis used to tell amusing stories of test driving the V12 engined Mk X, seems it went very nicely.

Me, well if time, space and money are no object then I'd like a Daimler Corsica concept based convertible X300 but with the engines from a iPace.

That would be lovely!

My Dad had a 79 Opel Kadett when I was younger and I always liked the shape. I'd take a base car like this, paint it a light grey (under coat sort of colour) with some orange highlights, I'd then stick either a V8 under the hood for the noise or a Subaru turbo with uneven length headers and a dump valve.

It doesn’t exist.
I used a pic of a standard Mk.X & an XJR-S in a similar blue.

Wonderful idea - does it also have IRS all round etc? The same idea using an S-Type, 420 or Daimler Sovereign definitely appeals.

You've all beat me to the Jags so I'd go for a seriously upgraded Rover P5B Coupe, no surprise there and it has already been done a few times in different ways - I'd go with a later Range Rover engine (4.9 possibly...?), upgraded cooling, electrics, suspension and brakes etc, with some tastefully executed mod cons fitted inside. Most of the best quality P5B Coupes around now are finished in that lovely Silver Birch over Admiralty Blue colour scheme but I'd go with my favourite Burnt Grey over Silver Birch with the beautiful Mulberry (oxblood) interior....

The power steering on these was always exceptionally light, so I'd find a way of giving it a little more feel if possible.

Huge brakes on the FF - no doubt they'd be needed but presumably you'd also need 17'' alloys (or larger?) to fit over them, personally I don't like over sized diameter wheels on classics but each to their own wink
