Eastern Bloc heaven - by Oxford Canal
Discussion
The B & B I stay in for the Silverstone Classic is near Priors Hardwick. If I arrive early I have a walk by the canal - as a fisherman I'm always attracted to water... There's a rambling property near the road bridge and locks with a simply wonderful selection of cars. I'd noticed Trabants and Wartburgs before but this year there was what I think was a late model Tatra in white and I think I saw a 240/260Z too , among other delights . There's a race transporter sign-written Connaught . Anybody else aware of this enthusiast with such eclectic taste ?

All I can say about the Connaught transporter is that it has nothing to do with the 1950s racing team.
Missed this thread. I should say so!
It's not a transporter anyway, looks like a long coach. And the logo is incorrect.
There is (was?) a 'modern' Connaught Motor Company (Tech centre) in Daventry area that used a similar looking (serif, not sans) typeface, perhaps connected with that?
edit update
must be, just seen the second photo with the 'coach' which actually says 'Connaught Motor Company'
(the original company was of course 'Connaught Engineering').

Good grief! That's about 5 miles (as the crow flies) from where we lived for 20-odd years before moving and I never knew about it. May have to make some subtle enquiries next time I'm down there.
I don't think you can see anything from the road, you'd have to go down the (private) drive. Mine and Simon's pics are from the canal, above the top lock.dandarez said:

The guy behind the Connaught V10 project was previously behind the attempt to sell RHD Tatra 613s here in the 1990s.I should say so!
