What's the general view on this car? I know it's worth what someone is prepared to pay etc etc however I was looking for a 900 Turbo as a little bit of a project, not a huge project just something to do bits too as well as driving. As I was looking I stumbled across this. Looks a lovely car but it's a bit of a step change in price.

I love it! It might be £20k, but it’s super cool, very unique and pretty special. It would have to be in top top shape for that money, but it’s not far off what it’s probably worth.

Wow.......20k for a Carly these days, but decent ones must be few and far between now though.

Good ones were getting hard to find when I was looking for one way back in 1997....!

Lovely cars although I think 260hp is a bit optimistic to be getting from one of these.....scratchchin

It was an insurance total loss for a broken passenger window and door barrel when it was 9 years old

I think that would need some further investigation, doesn’t sound right to me

I had my 91’ 900s broken into and I had a new window and barrel fitted for a couple of hundred iirc in the mid 90’s .. it was nowhere near a right off, in fact I didn’t even make an insurance claim

You'd get a late Ruby for under half that asking.

In fact in around 95 it was hit by a stolen car when parked and pushed through a brick wall and ended up having both the front and rear replaced.. it was right mess

That was an insurance claim and it was repaired as good as new

So I’m struggling to believe a broken window wrote this one off

And I’ve just noticed it’s done 160k

I always thought the painted bumpers on the Carlsson didn't look as good as the unpainted plastic of the normal Aero.

Twenty large seems a lot to pay, especially when back in the day SAABs were always a bit of a bargain because they were unfashionable.

In a sense I hope it IS worth £20K because that must make my mine worth nearly as much!

Realistically, I think it's a bit strong but it's rare and clearly in good shape. Mods, as ever, should be viewed with caution and may not be to all tastes, but they're reputable brands. I dislike it when a vendor shows all sorts of goodies on the car then states that they're not included, but hey ho.

Mileage is not high for the age / a 900 (unless you're PH editorial, in which case it's a wonder it got this far!) but I'd want to be paying less for a car on the register, irrespective of how trivial the damage was. The plate does nothing for me.

That would be my preference as well.

In fact I came close to buying a Ruby back in the winter of 97/98.......it was one owner, 56k miles, but was 9.5k at a dealer at the time, and I'd only just bought my '92 900SE lpt from a dealer 6 months earlier and just couldn't make the maths work to do the change frown

One of my customers has a rough, but mechanically decent (aside from an obstructive 2nd synchro) Ruby.

We tracked it at Llandow.

One of the fastest cars I've ever driven there. But doesn't like corners. Particularly the bus-stop.

Removing the front ARB makes quite a difference on versions with the sports chassis (T16S etc)

I tracked mine (which was basically a shed) at Aintree and got a comment from the driver of a stripped out Clio Cup on how well it went. smile

Seems like a ludicrous premium over a normal T16S for a Carlsson.

I had a black Carlsson about 15 years ago. I took a friend out in it and he commented how it went through twisty bends faster than he'd dare in his Elise. They have a very good chassis.
G589YYT where are you now? Failed MOT in 2019 and not just a few minors, lives in North Devon?

£20k is a bit steep, I'd have thought an excellent one would be £12k-£15k.

If it doesn't carlsson on the v5 then it is not a carlsson. Not wise to spend 15k plus on a replica.
