had a trip to my local autoshop to get some touch in paint in a shade of white called pendelican blvc ncd used in the 1970s on BL allegros i think and found that they cant match it because of health and safety issues as it needs lead in it and they might hurt themselves stirring it perhaps anyway being pragmatic i just want the closest match in the currently available range of whites i cant match by eye as the samples are to small and the charts are listed by manufacturer anyway so you cant get them all together and its amazing how different the shades of white are so if anyone has any info to get me a current match i would be gratefull

Go to a shop that specializes in paint and body supplies, surely they can help you out. I don't think that a car paint would have to contain lead to match exactly.

What I have heard, is that black is black but every shade of white is actually a light pink or light yellow, maybe even a light blue, but at any rate although paint matching (spraying, blending) with white is not that tough, it's necessary to start with the right shade of white..

It's the same with black... I think old Austin black was actually very slightly reddish, and Ford very slightly blue.
