Out of interest, any advantage swapping to SUs?
AFAIK the main downside of the Zenith Strombergs was the rubber diaphragm could get holes, whereas the SU used an aluminium piston in the dashpot so never had that problem. There were also a wider range of needles and jets for the SUs if you wanted to play around with the tune with the further advantage, in my case at least, SU used to have a service place at the back of Fort Dunlop in Birmingham, UK. My Strombergs are set up very nicely and my 74 year old Dad said, 'every weekend in the 70's you could see people under the bonnets of their TR's fiddling with the carbs because they once fiddled with their carbs.
Son, if they are set up well and it's running nicely, DO NOT TOUCH THOSE BLOODY CARBS'.
So I actually try not to even look at them.

One of the truest statements I've heard on Pistonheads. If your car is running fine one day and then starts misbehaving it's not down to the carbs going out of adjustment, might be a diaphragm split or crud in the jet. The times I hear this and I think "you've just made identifying the problem a lot worse"
Lovely car op.
I agree, if it ain’t broke leave it alone.
I have always left the PI well alone on mine, apart from having to clean the injectors due to the original fuel tank throwing a few bits down the fuel lines. Cured it all now, along with the noisy pump, see my update in Triumph thread. TR6 Purchase

Stunning car!
But if you are going to run it on carbs wouldn't there be a Weber option?
For 2,200€, no, there won't be a Weber option But if you are going to run it on carbs wouldn't there be a Weber option?

As I once read: '95% of carburettor problems are in the ignition system!'I have always left the PI well alone on mine, apart from having to clean the injectors due to the original fuel tank throwing a few bits down the fuel lines. Thanks for the nice comments, people
And that ^^, Yertis, is something my mechanic said to me, he said to keep an eye on them and to keep them topped up. That is as far as my fiddling with the carbs will go.
The only other thing I used to fiddle with was balancing them, they did drift out of balance over time for some reason. (That was on a GT6 but the same thing really.)

Keep the dash pots topped up though, that’s quite important.
