After the sale in 2017, does anyone know if the car stayed in the UK?

A really interesting story behind the car and woven in as part of the act on later chat shows!

On my lottery list if the numbers ever come up along with Peter Grants Porsche, anything Nick Mason would sell me, John Lennon’s Honda Monkey bike, Barry Gibb’s Countach and the Audi off Layer Cake driven by that actor that sank into obscurity afterwards!

Smiler.

This page suggests the same owner since 2012, so maybe it didn't sell?

I understood Nick Whale bought it, restored it then put it through Silverstone Auctions (he’s now MD). It was in a mess and he rescued it from a bad restoration on the continent. I saw the sales promotion but couldn’t find any sold details so maybe so......

Car was first 'restored' in Belgium .I bought the original jack from then owner , which he said he didn't need ...

As said above , sold through auction afterwards and then restored properly by CB and sold to a happy customer if I remember correctly 2-3 years ago .

And the guy was more impressed with driving a Jensen rather than him being Eric Morecambe.

Thanks for all the replies, I’d love to see the car if it ever appears at a U.K. show.

If you’ve not heard the Leeds Interceptor story it’s on the above link, it shows how great they really were as a duo!! I’m a big fan of theirs for as long as I can really remember, growing up with the Christmas specials etc.

As an update, I managed to get in touch with a former owner a while back, the car is probably now in London after the latest restoration and sale.

The Rolls looks to be still in Lancashire according to a recent post on here, not sure if it’s condition….

A friend has just had a bare metal respray on his series1, taking it back to the original colour - the same as Eric Morecambe’s.

If you like M + W take a look at ian Ashpital and Jonty Stephens bloody frightening in a nice way

I was in a Traffic Jam along the North Circular in London and saw the plate and pulled alogside.. Quickly wrote RUBBISH on a piece of A4 tooted and held it up. He laughed out loud and gave me the thumbs up. Later when i was living in Peterborough bumped, and i do mean bumped into Ernie as he came out of a shop. Smaller that 5.8 so that gave me a yardstick to work out the height of their guests!!

Thank you for the information and the stories!

I’d love to see the latest play based on their show, I’ll look that up!
