this time its regarding importation of pre war cars from Ireland. If a car is registered in Ireland can I simply bring it over here duty free and re-register or is there more to it?

Should be exempt from both I would imagine.

Having been dragged through the hedge backwards on my own import I can’t think why the nice honest folks at HM customs and Excise would want to relieve you of your hard earned on a car already in the EU

Must be nice living in 'mainland' E.U. I suppose they simply drive the car of dreams over the border, job done.

I think I might ask Mr Ted if he might post a static advisory on importation. Would be very handy reference.
