I thought Nissan in the US were going to start doing a Singer and restoring and selling 240Zs. How much do they sell for?

Well i guess with things like Mk1 RS Turbos fetching £20K+ and Mk1 XR2's £12-15K this was about what we should expect nowadays isn't it?

Porsche centre have a black Porsche 924s Le-mans on auto trader, nicely restored but with 120K miles on clock, and its up at £39999....

The 'Vintage Z Program' - where Nissan USA commissioned a brace of specialist restorers in California to buy up used 240Zs and to restore them for sale in Nissan USA showrooms - happened in 1997/8.

Seems there may've been a second stage Vintage Z Program:

Lovely though isn't it? To think BL were still churning out the MGB when this was made. Must be rare being an original 240 style short wheelbase car and not the 2+2.

No, there was only the one 'Vintage Z Program' run by NMC USA. Hagerty, I'm afraid, don't really know what they are writing about.

Forty grand seems a lot, but it is an attractive old thing and you just need one enthusiast with a bit of money. Find another one in this condition and history.

They did that back in the 80's. Not sure that there are that many more that are worth restoring. The money is not bad for a low mileage original. How much does an E-type cost these days or an Original TR6?

Can see where you are coming from, but would not be surprised if buying a rusty example and restoring it professionally would cost more. Pays your money etc.

Undoubtedly it would cost more, unless you did if yourself (but what price your time etc?)

A couple of years ago I was seized by the notion that I should buy a 280zx, I think I mentioned it here for some reason, and had a good look around the market. They were £3000 – £4000 in good nick. I went off the idea when I re-read contemporary reviews in my ancient Car magazines, which reminded me that 280zxs are crap. And the interiors are hideous. But any way I looked again after seeing this thread and a. 280zxs seem to have almost vanished from the marketplace, and b. (no doubt a function of a.) those that are around are in the £min-teen range.

I've subsequently reset my sights first on Excels, and now back on GT6s, so I expect those to rocket out of reach soon. rolleyes

..a good 240Z is a lovely drive, idiot proof balance/chassis and sewing machine straight six.

Bearing in mind scarcity of these cars due to rot, and the lack of good ones, that price seems on the money to me.

MZR are doing some fantastic "Singer-ised" 240Z's - I was there last week they manufacture their own extremely high quality components - wheels, brakes, seats, 3.1 litre injection engines etc - perfect cars and incredible attention to detail.

great guys to deal with as well

This car has been talked about a few times on the Z forum. It sold for under £29k last year at auction. The price is a lot, especially for a 260z (some say the better car) but the 240s command more money. I wish I'd bought a decent RHD one 10-15 years ago when they were comparatively cheap ...

But where else can you find one in this nick with this mileage (not always a good thing though). Under the bonnet doesn't look like 15k though, just looks pretty used. Someone had a white LHD 240z with 29k from new on ebay recently for £47k! (It sold a couple of years ago for $29k in the US) ...

It was lovely though (but LHD) ... I'd be surprised if it sold at that price.

Edit: we saw the lovely MZR cars at the NEC last year - start at £80k though - gotta have deep pockets but incredibly bespoke.

Double edit: I see they're doing a slightly more lower spec now starting at a shade under £70k. I just need six numbers ... !

At that mileage and provenance, I really cannot see why it should not be north of £30K. Plenty of run of the mill cars command much much more that IMHO are less appealing.

If I had "the £10m" garage i would probably buy it.......

There’s a lot of cars I’d prefer first but I wouldn’t be ashamed it was mine or I’d paid £30k for it.
