Having serious interest in my current car I am hoping that it may see a lucky new owner this weekend.

This being the case I shall be hotfooting to give a once over on what appears to be a nice 1926 Vauxhall.
It has everything I am looking for in terms of space, style and comfort.

One little problem is that my new garage has a door height of 6 feet whereas the car is 6 feet ten inches tall, lucky my garage is timber so it could be out with the saw.

Any tips on the car?
I must just wait and hope.

Hi David

If the car is the 14/40 Top Hat Saloon that I think it is, the height is given as 186 cm which is only 6 foot 1 and a bit inches so the problem may be less. It looks like an imposing car and has the benefit of 4 speed and 4 wheel brakes. Centre throttle though which may take some getting used to. Good luck!

Hi Mike,

Yes it is the Top Hat saloon, there is a second one available on a private sale and altho this is £1000 less asking price it is the older model with 2 wheel brakes only and the 3 speed box. Having said that I do prefer the colour being maroon over black, but I doubt if thats enough to sway me.

I going to remeasure my garage door opening now, I never was any good at conversions of metric to old money

Sold my car yesterday, new owners well pleased with his purchase, he has bought a beautiful car and I feel that he is the type of owner who will cherish it.

As for me, well its playtime at the dealers or private sales for that pre-war car now
