Do any of my fellow Pistonheaders have any much knowledge or experience of a Monteverdi?
Now the Deauville and its container are almost into view I am thinking about the next import project as realistically I am not sure if they were ever sold in RHD in the UK? I’ve seen the odd one at Le Mans over the years but never have I seen one at any of the normal shows or meets back here in the UK.
I’ve found this site with a few cars for sale and the one which seems as though it might be in reach is one of these little beauties
You’ll see one of these for 30,000 Swiss francs which seems reasonable mindful that you won’t have all the agro you get from importing from down under

Monteverdi do not figure large in Pistonhead discussions, lets change it! Or not as the case may be

This may be of interest - I have no affiliation or anything, just found it looking around the Ullrich site linked to above.

"I have a friend in the UK that is considering selling his Monteverdi. That should be MonteverdiS actually - as well as his roadgoing one, he also has another in pieces for rebuilding or spares (I believe it is complete). If anybody in interested in buying either or both of these get in touch with me and I'll put you on to my friend."

Hi,
Good choice, HighSpeed !! For your interest: look at this link www.alexanderscarcollection.com under collection. You'll see a stunning dark Monteverdi. On the swiss site you mentioned I noticed that his High Speed is for sale. As far as I know, Mr Oet is a car collector from Belgium but I do not know him personally.
Cheers from Holland,
mark

Do you know the full name of this collector? (I found that the site is registered to a Mevr. S. Buis in Antwerpen, NL).

Stefan,
Sorry, I just know him as Mr Oet, probably Alexander Oet. I think he is based near Brussels.

As far as car collections go this one has got to represent the ultimate, the Big Kahuna, the knee of the Bee. You get the impression.
A Pantera Si, not just any old Pantera, an Si! There are more Harrison Watches than Pantera Si’s.
And then the equally tantalising titbit that is a Montervedi. Not just one but two of the brutes. Hell it’s not even the Toyota Crown clone that was the Monteverdi Sierra but the 375 and two of them. I wonder what the collective noun is?
An Iso Grifo and Rivolta, greedy damn greedy. And the Rivolta is not just a Rivolta unless I’m mistaken; it’s a Fidia…... If ever a car could knock the Deauville off its Tony Soprano perch then it’s got to be a Fidia.
And on the last page the car with the question mark next to, it’s a Ghia 450SS. As Dean Martin drove one I need say no more, even the Fonze wasn’t that cool
Many thank for bringing all these tasty morsels to our attention I am starting to think that our mainland European neighbours have got this motoring business well in hand.
The Frau bodied car looks brilliant there is a Frau bodied Monteverdi for sale in the US and if I recall correctly is priced about £50k. On the money I think.
Brilliant stuff people!
A Ghia 450
The old Ghia 450SS did the EBay rounds for a while for very modest loot. Bear in mind that at least with something like that your not even going to walk into the customs and Excise problems I did with the De T being over 30 years old!
Talking of EBay I bought a 1969 copy of ‘Fast Car’ which if you haven’t picked up a really aged car magazine in a while is well worth it. What drew me to it the Monteverdi 375 article which provided fascinating reading. Asides from the changes from Frau to Fissore body work, the heinous reliability issues it also dealt with the really thorny subject of price.
How does £10,500 in 1969 sound? I reckon that equates to about £200k by today’s standards! 12 were allocated to the UK for that year, I have a sneaking feeling this may be why the Monterverdi is a rare site these days!

Want to be even greener with envy? Not just any Si, of which there are precious few, as you mention, but an Si targa, of which there are even precious fewer!
They sold 39 Si's in all, so there aren't very many. And I think there are only 6 or so targas... Very lucky man indeed - there are some absolutely stunning cars in that collection...
