Ooh, that just looks so good!

If I had possessed any taste in my early 20s I would have bought one of those, but craving the latest thing I got a plastic-nose MkII. Mind you the 80s was the decade taste forgot (well that is my excuse)!

Wouldn't the shape make it impossible to get the wing/door gap any smaller? On my car (not a Mk1 Escort) I've got to have a bigger gap than I'd like because the door scrapes if it's any smaller, due to the shape. Later photo seems to show the same, larger gap between wing and door than between door and rear quarter.

Is Modena Green it's original colour....?

Back in the mid 1980's when I was RS2000 Registrar for the AVO OC, there was 3 original factory big wing RS2000's on the register, and none of them were Modena, so I'm guessing this a post mid 80's 'discovery'.....??

Nice biggrin

That may be the case. I have a letter dated January 2002 from the then AVO Club Secretary stating that they only know of four Special Build RS2000's, one of which is in Malaysia.......

This car along with it's known history can be verified that it came out of Aveley in Modena Green.

Stunning, but you really shouldn't be blowing money on cars when your roof is such desperate need of repair.

Great.....it's new to me then, as left the committee of AVOOC around 1989 ish. I remember one of them was a Marine Blue one, which made is doubly rare! Another was the ex-Chris Day one, which was Stardust, but I can't now recall the details of the other one. One of them must have been exported since my day in the club then?

Modena is a lovely colour thumbup

Yes the Marine Blue is with same owner, we parked along side each other at National Day.

The earliest photo I have, not sure of date.

Lovely car Sir....

I have a Modena Mk1 too, its so nice to see a Big Wing. I remember going to the AVO Nationals at Stanford Hall back in the day, I often saw a Mk1 RS2000 in Modena with a registration that I'm sure began with OKO.... it was such a nice car, AVO or not. Got anymore pics of yours?

Or was it OJO***P.... Modena with a factory black vinyl roof?

If so, that was the last RS2000 registered new in the UK. Owned from new by Roger Bailey, who was one of the AVO OC first committee members when the club was formed in 1980. Roger sold the car to a mate of mine in 1984, after 9 years ownership and only just over 40k miles, with all original panels and paintwork. I was offered it when he put it up for sale 18 months later, and stupidly, I didn't buy it banghead
