Isn't that a Harrington Alpine with the Coupe type hardtop. If so, it's far from a one-off.
Although they must be like hen's teeth by now.

No, the Harrington Alpine didn't have the tailfins - the fastback went right down to the bumper like a 911.

What they've probably done is, in race-preparing this Alpine, they've actually welded the hardtop to it for extra rigidity, cut a new bootlid and been careful with the seams, but I agree, it's very pretty and looks like an Aston Martin DB4.

This is a Harrington Alpine:

I stand ready to be corrected, but I am sure that either the early or late Harrington's retained the tail fins (and looked all the better for them in my humble opinion).

No, not welded, the ad says it's made of GRP: seller also states categorically that it's not a Harrington. Also the rear side windows are the wrong shape for either version of the factory hardtop.
Not sure I agree about fins on the Harrington - will have to check.

Paul.

OK, done a bit of research.
Your photo is a Harrington Alpine, but a special edition to commemorate their participation at Le Mans.
It was called, curiously enough, the Harrington Alpine Le Mans . The standard Harrington retained the Alpines fins, and there was even at least one Harrington Tiger. The Harringtons shared the same method of construction as the car on ebay, so it looks as if it is a copy or the vendor doesn't really know what he is selling.

Paul.

I asked the seller.....
"Hi, is this a Harrington body ?"

he said...
"No this is not a Harrington body ! When Clive Harrington saw the car a few years ago he said "If my father produced that in the sixties,I wouldn't need to work now" A compliment indeed. I built the car in 1997 using a fibreglass roof from another car"

Shame that.

the Alpine owners club has links to details about the Harrington development also details of Holbay Engineering's involvement with the Rootes Group....lots of pics too
