I've been sent this picture from My Girlfriend's uncle in San Diego. He saw it at a crossroads and so far nobody has been able to identify it. I'm stumped although my classic car knowledge isnt great. Any thoughts?

Looks similar to a Karmann Ghia but the backend isn't the same, it looks much lower

one of my favorite designs but not exactly cheap. you will pay over 100k for an early low nose example.
