I have bought oldish cars from dealers before, nothing too expensive though. They do not tend to warrenty cars they sell, but they will normally be helpful if something major goes wrong. Most of the cars they sell are going to be in good working order anyhow.
The biggest issue with buying old cars is they tend not to have been used alot, this causes it's own issues, as things start to fail when they are used. When I bought my austin seven the radiator failed and dynomo failed in the first few weeks, since then I have also replaced the fuel pump, petrol pipes and rebuilt the carb. I also for the hell of it rebuilt the spare engine with a bit of gas flowing, 1950's cambridge head and a high lift cam.

Thanks for that, I'm gradually getting jenned up for the big occasion of buying an 'oldie'. Got to sell my present car first tho as I understand most dealers in 'oldies' do not accept modern (1992) cars, even if they are TVR. Having said that Real Car said they would be interested in P/X. Still I would rather sell first.
