mk1 cortina lights.. fog light within cluster? y

One for the anoraks perhaps! Or an owner anyway. The mk 1 rear lamps, ban the bomb type, do they contain a fog light? Obviously there is no reverse light. Need to know, building a custom. Dont fear, I'm not chopping up a mk1!

AIUI there would have been no requirement for a foglamp at the time of the Mk1 Cortina, so I would be surprised if one was fitted.

where would it have fitted as the light is divided into three - side/brake light, indicator and reflector, there are only two bulbs holder in the cluster

reversing lights and fog lights would have been add ons back then, plenty of period rear fog and reversing lights around still and repros

TVRS and over low volume cars, usually fibreglass, also used these lights back in the day

As nta16 says, it's 2 bulbs, the 3rd section is a reflector

ETA: cars back then didn't have door mirrors, dipping rear view mirror or even seat belts fitted to the front let alone rear (the fixing points had to be there for front belts in in early '60s though)

I was just having a look around to see if there are any upgraded replacements, maybe with LEDs and combining the fog and reverse in with the reflector. Couldn't see anything.

That's a great help, many thanks. Didn't know whether it was a single side light bulb, and single stop lamp or combined as it is.

I now require combined round fog and reverse lights, with 'E' markings. But not reflectors, so that's handy.

ETA:I'd have to check with my 1970 copy of the 'AA Book of the Car' to see what regulations there are on the size of reflectors so you can look that up yourself on t'net
