What do the panel think this Escort is worth??

1983 Escort 3 estate
1117cc ohv
101k miles (all MOTs etc)
Completely original shell, not welded anywhere
Current owner 20+ years

If this were your car and you were thinking of selling it what would you expect to get for it, ball park figure?

For an 1100cc engine @ 100k miles, I wouldn't have thought much.
That said the body looks good from where I'm sitting could transplant a nice big engine, with maybe 4x4 drive....what a sleeper?
£800 tops.

I've got a mk.4 one of them! In your case with the 1.1 it's not really going to interest anyone except modders. Which is a shame, IMO, but that's life

Dont see that the 1.1 lets it down, original white base model, pressed plates, no rear wiper, love it. Its £1500 all day long.....have I bought it?

£1500 with 12 months ticket, £500 no MOT, pro-rata for each months worth of MOT I would suggest.

You only need one person who really REALLY wants it. On that basis, anywhere upto £2,000 IMO. Surely well over £1,000.

There's one currently on ebay in the same condition but 1.3 4 door with 30k for £1200, it reached £800 last week.

Your looking at £600-800 but that will be from someone wanting to modify it.

Fair point - I left some of the details out as I really didn't want to turn this into an advert.

But since some details obviously affect the price it has over 12 months MOT as well as new tyres and a few useful extras like a PMA50 Lumenition kit as well as a remote central locking alarm.

I think a pattern is forming price wise, so thanks for all the contributions

£1500 is very optimistic, even Mk3 1.6 Ghia's struggle to get close to that.

Last year i sold a mint B reg 1.3L with 43k on ebay and struggled to get £800.

If your buying i'd be happy paying £600, if selling £1000.

From a rarity point of view this is now an extremely rare model. A 3-door Mk3 Estate. I'd stash it away for 20yrs bud.

Good grief that could be my first company car , 1983 first job selling in a Ford Dealership .
They had about 20 as a cancelled Police order , not easy to sell in 1983

I'd say £500. Nice first car for someone who wants something a little different. I imagine these are nice and easy to DIY and as long as the shell remains solid it would be cheap and easy to repair. We had a 5-door Mk3 escort of the same age in my family. Grandad had it from new, looked after it as best he could, passed it on to my dad, I drove it for a bit but eventually it got too rusty to save.

Nice to see well preserved Mk3 Escorts are still out there but not something that would get most people raiding the piggy bank, sadly...
