Do You Ever Get Bored?

..and fed up with looking at MG's, E Types, "First to see will buy" Triumph TR's and so on...

Don't get me wrong this Classic Car malarkey is an eclectic church and one to which I subscribe but sometimes I yearn for something a little different to titillate the palate.

Could you imagine if the PH Classic Section was headlined with 1948 Frau BMW? or Mint Murena? (thought your ears might prick up at that Breadvan ) or what about 1951 Delahaye B 163 Kipper?

Well I went hunting on t'internet...didn't have to go far, I merely hopped across to Fleabay Germany.

There's a whole heap of "stuff" across there - some of it from behind the Iron Curtain, some from the grainy pics in the back of my Observers Book of Cars 1969, some are just a little left brain e.g Lada + Twin Cam Lancia engine or Opel Diplomat pick up.

You getting the drift?

Couple of pics below to whet your appetite. I seem to recall commenting on a Glas before; thought it a really pretty car somewhat like the Simca 1200 - wasn't there a UK Silver one being restored somewhere? - Japanese connection? grey matter stirs- late hour -pics below anyway

'Kipper' is the German for 'tipper', as in 'tipper lorry'.

I tend to agree that sometimes it gets a bit dull (and I have two MGBs myself!).
That's the main reason I don't go to a lot of classic car shows and events anymore, as they rarely tend to differ from another...

Get yourself over the Germany and Techno Classica in particular. You'll see a lot of unusual stuff there.

What is it on the side of the Delahaye? I guess some sort of wood burning, pigsh**, type convertor though suprised it was still fitted in '51

I fancy a Velorex Oskar or 16/350 so have been looking at Polish and Czech sale sites and have been amazed by all sorts of weird and wonderful machinery I didn't know existed.
I've got cars from France, Belgium and Spain before so wife has agreed for me to go off searching if I want but don't think she'd be happy if I came back with an artic transporter full of everything that tempted me :-)

The bodywork's well past saving, it all looks a bit deflated, the front end is an acquired taste to say the least and I suspect if you got it going the ride would be a bit ropey and disappointing.









The truck looks worth saving though!

I can't say 'bored' of them as I appreciate them and the work gone into them but I do enjoy a less 'common' classic a little bit more. My neighbour opened my eyes to the vintage scene and that is a real eye opener
