1981 Vanden Plas value?

Hello Friends , I hope you can help me ..
I’m am looking at selling a 1981 Astral? Blue Vanden Plas 1500 ..Previously One family owned (Granddad), 69000 miles from new…FSH, Garaged all its life so far. Hide Upholstery, Armrests, Picnic Tables, Reading lights, Burr Walnut Facia and door cappings…I do appreciate this should be in the for sale section but I will be selling and wondered what kind of values these cars demand if at all?

I’m no expert but I can’t see any rust, just the odd bubble ...

General condition is great ..."Bluebell" was the owners pride and joy , the only thing wrong is the head lining is missing as it was about to be replaced but unfortunately this never happened.. I have the new headlining and a load of other spares..

I am not sure anyone will pay 3.5k for a posh Allegro though. Would have thought £1500 to £2000 myself for one in reasonable nick rather than a full restoration.

Unfortunately not a lot. They are not generally well loved and will only appeal to a very small audience. I mean, its an Allegro with parts of a stately home grafted to it!!

Thing is I quite like them, even though they are a strange looking vehicle!

You might get £1000 - £1200ish. Thats my guess.

good point, make sure your ads are international, on web sites that get international buyers viewing (yes I know web sites are international but you know what I mean)

from what I've learnt from the experience of others and know from dealing with UK buyers - generally non-UK buyers are much better to deal with as a seller and if you have a good car accurately described they come over pay the asking price or very near as negotiated and drive or trailer the vehicle away and you only hear back from them to see if you have more memorabilia, history, info or parts and/or to say they're pleased with their purchase

just because one make/model isn't appreciated here doesn't mean it isn't elsewhere (over here we're very snobby about these old cars we call 'classics') I've no idea if Allegros are favoured elsewhere but small VPs were valued in the past by at least Japan

There is something...strangely appealing about that one in such good condition and that colour.

Value? £2500ish on a good day...

that looks good, I'm not sure it sits high enough (suspension) but that might be my memory you'd need to check with old sales brochures

sell it abroad and get more for it, the classic car enthusiasts in the UK that might like it are probably used to paying lower prices for their cars (might be the very odd exception)

remember if you had a line of 'classics' all in exactly the same condition the valves could be tens or hundreds of times different based on the make and model only
