Quick scan of some companies suggests it's not possible frown Anyone know any different?

I'd like say 6k pa, business use + SDP, and ideally insured for anyone over 25/30 to drive.

Moon on a stick?

The 'insured for anyone over 25' might be pushing it but I've got both of mine insured as SDP + journeys in connection with business (ie visiting clients) without too much financial pain.

Mine are all unlimited mileage, inc business use, with Footman James. Any driver might be pushing it, but should be possible. I've heard good things about Hiscox motor policies, especially for relatively high-value cars, which I think cover you to drive any car and anyone to drive your car, but I expect you would have to pay for the convenience.

Seems to depend on the car.
When I insured my XK150 I asked whether I could have business cover and the guy on the phone said "Hang on I'll check with the underwriter" a minute or so later he came back with "he says that sounds nice, can't say I blame him" and they included business usage for free.
But when I looked at having the X300 on classic insurance they were more than happy to cover it as a classic, so long as I didn't want business cover.
This was with Heritage.

But when the people who insured my X300 quoted begged to be able to quote for the XK they were in the same ball park, except no track day cover was possible, but when I asked about business usage the price came back at close to 20 times what I was already paying!

Footman James covered my Marina on a classic policy with business use, no problems.

Falling piano excess was reasonable too.

If you are self employed how would they know (in the event of an accident) you were using it for work?

Surely you would say you were having a day off....

I spoke to FJ and the chap there passed me to their commercial dept when I mentioned that I'd like to put some company logos on the car, and the commercial dept went wtf and said it wasn't their bag.

Weird.

It's a 1956 Beetle which fits the brand perfectly. I wonder if putting an old-school roof rack on it and putting the branding on that might sidestep the issue?

Cheers

Interesting thread. I sort of need Class 1 use on my XJ40 but can't get it with the current insurer. Sounds like FJ will be getting a call next year.

Peter James added business use to my 3 classics for an admin fee – get a quote from them before you commit elsewhere.

Cheers for that, SDP plus occasional commuting for £87.55
